Hip Dysplasia

My poor Shamrock is only 5 1/2 and has a SEVERE case of hip dysplasia (causing arthritis). Doc gave her Rimadyl for pain and she has been on a MSM, Chondrointin, and Glucosamine supplement (with other things added as well) for about 6 months now. Has just been panting like a banshee at night and I have been worried. X-rays confirmed. Even though she is only 1/2 rottweiler, the breed is known to have horrible hips:(. Doc recommended a surgery called Femoral Head Excision (a salvage procedure). Will have it done eventually. He said with the pain meds, there is no real hurry. Poor kiddo............ I hate knowing she has been in pain.

I have to say... If I had to choose between animals or people... Animals would be my pick the majority of the time. 

Hubby snapped this pic of Shamrock (pit-bull and rottweiler I am guessing) and I sleeping. 

Shamrock is ONE of my "best-est" friends on the entire planet. I love this girl unconditionally, and she returns the sentiment without question!!! 

She made the grueling trip across country with me THREE times (I was responsible for moving the furniture and animals while hubby fenced in pastures). 

All of our pups sleep with us, but Shamrock takes her place, head nestled into mine, each night:). 

I love them all!!!
