Coconut Oil
I love using coconut oil in ALL of my animals food. I ONLY buy unrefined because refined oil "acts" differently... I have never purchased Trader Joes coconut oil, but like the listing of benefits here... My dogs, pigs, and horses LOVE this stuff. I sometimes make treats for my goats/sheet using this, but too expensive to give goats/sheep everyday....

Hip Dysplasia
My poor Shamrock is only 5 1/2 and has a SEVERE case of hip dysplasia (causing arthritis). Doc gave her Rimadyl for pain and she has been on a MSM, Chondrointin, and Glucosamine supplement (with other things added as well) for about 6 months now. Has just been panting like a banshee at night and I have been worried. X-rays confirmed. Even though she is only 1/2 rottweiler, the breed is known to have horrible hips:(. Doc recommended a surgery called Femoral Head Excision (a salvage procedure). Will have it done eventually. He said with the pain meds, there is no real hurry. Poor kiddo............ I hate knowing she has been in pain.
