Week of Rain...

Looks like I will enjoy a week of rain showers according to the NOAA Weather Website. http://www.noaa.gov/wx.html

Our orchard, garden, and newly planted chicken yard plants will surely thrive with the rain.

Have been hand watering the orchard and chicken yard during this recent dry spell. We have a watering system in our garden so we are lucky there.

C'mon rain... Grow, plants, grow:)!!!

Good Rain & Earth Worms

Don't get me wrong... I am so thankful the ground is finally going to have a chance to dry out. But... With all of the rain this year, we have a super healthy and abundant crop of earth worms. The chickens, guineas, and ducks are lovin' it!!! Wooo hooo!!!

Prepping for the Winter Weather

As ice and snow flurries storm the east coast, I sit inside where it is warm, and enjoy winter soup and family...

Thankfully, we prepared for the storm by stocking up on food items, kerosene for the portable heater, gas for the generator, and wrapping faucets, hoses, and lines....

Animal water troughs were filled, heat lamps were activated, and vitamins were distributed. All animals were given extra food and bedding.

Hoping all people and animals alike are as safe and comfortable as we are. Provided temporary shelter for a "stray" dog today (and food/water) because of the freezing temperatures....

NOAA Weather

http://www.noaa.gov/wx.html

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is THE place to go for accurate weather forecasting. I get so fed up with local and other weather reporting........ This is the ONLY place I reference anymore.

Rain Rain

Rain, Rain.... Very happy to have a dry day with sunshine. Really NEED to till compost into the garden, but can't get the tractor in there with the wet ground. Likely going to need 7-9 days of DRY before that can happen. Our compost is looking SWEET:)! Going to be checking the horses hooves for any rot with all of the mud. Kopertox is a miracle worker as far as thrush and other things go, thank goodness!
