Duck, Guinea, and Chicken Eggs
I LOVE the huge eggs our ducks give us. Our larger hens also lay quite sizable eggs, but nothing compared with the ducks...

Chick in my Bra
Went out to the coop this morning and found a guinea/silkie cross that hatched. Silkie mom has been "mom" to three chicks that hatched 6 days ago and didn't want anything to do with the new chick. So.... What does a gal do??? OF COURSE I PUT HER IN MY BRA AND CARRIED HER AROUND LIKE THAT FOR 8 HOURS. Why not??? lol... She is now resting under a heat lamp in a box in our bathroom...

Sad, Sad, Sad...
Feeling really sad and damn mad... So much loss in a 4 day period. Started with our black runner duck. Next day, lost a guinea. Yesterday lost my favorite black bantam chick we even paid to have surgery on months ago b/c we love her so much. TODAY... We lost our only male runner duck. We thought he was a hen when we first got him as a duckling and named him Henrietta. The name seemed to fit and stuck. Included a pic of Henrietta as a duckling. Really upset with myself right now for not doing more to protect my babies. Killed an Opossum this morning and will kill any and all bird predators I catch/trap. Ordering electric bird "netting" to keep them in a prescribed area. Before today, they had been allowed to roam at will, but this hasn't worked for us. 2 of our guineas were hit by a car just 2 weeks ago... Only have one duck now. If our duck eggs that the chickens have been sitting on don't hatch, we will never have any Henrietta/black duck babies:(.
I failed to mention our wonderful production red that was killed the same day/time as our little black bantam.... DAMN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Chicken Sitting on a HUGE Clutch of Eggs
The hens are taking turn sitting on these eggs... Duck, guinea, and chicken eggs should be due to hatch in a week or so:). Woooo hoooo!!!
Live Trap
The live trap is set... Hoping to catch the fox. Used part of the guinea, canned cat food, and canned dog food as bait... Will see what happens...

Chicken Coops
We now have a nursery coop and a quarantine coop. We had been using an entire horse/goat barn as the quarantine holding area for new chicks/ducks... This will be much better:)!!!
